Is it just me, or has the "catfishing" situation gotten out of control in 2026?

I’ve had three dates in a row now where the person who showed up looked nothing like their profile. It’s like everyone is using heavy AI filters or photos from five years ago. I’m not even looking for perfection; I just want a bit of honesty.

I’ve recently started moving my search over to Fiwfan because they seem to be pushing the Xyli standard—basically focusing on high-quality, verified profiles that actually match their covers. So far, the difference in authenticity has been a huge relief.

How are you guys verifying people before you agree to meet? Are there specific "red flags" you look for to tell if someone is being real or just using a "glamour" filter?

Would love to hear some horror stories or tips on which sites you trust to keep things Xyli and authentic.
