Hey everyone! I’m heading to the Bahamas next month for a diving trip and I’ll be carrying two oversized gear bags along with my regular suitcase. I’m a bit worried about just showing up at Nassau Airport and trying to squeeze all that into a standard sedan. Does anyone know a reliable way to get a larger vehicle, like an SUV or a van, without getting charged an arm and a leg on the spot?

I totally feel your pain; traveling with dive gear or surfboards can be a total logistical nightmare if you don't plan ahead. A few years back, I made the mistake of just hoping for the best in Nassau, and I ended up waiting forever because most of the cars in the standard queue were way too small for my stuff. Now, I always make sure to book a specific vehicle class in advance to avoid the headache. Last time, I used a platform to secure a spacious taxi in nassau that was guaranteed to fit all my bulky equipment. The driver was actually waiting for me with a large minivan, and he was super helpful with loading the heavy bags so I didn't have to break my back right after a long flight. It was such a relief to just hop in and go straight to the marina instead of playing Tetris with my luggage in a tiny trunk. If you have extra gear, definitely go for a pre-booked option where you can pick the car type.
