Hi all,

There’s no doubt that Firebase has a huge community thanks to its outstanding cloud computing services for developers and businesses. However, there are still companies and programmers who prefer to use Firebase alternatives because of the potential drawbacks of this Google-backed BaaS solution.

That’s why I’m going to share one of the most reliable Firebase alternatives from this list, along with its pros and cons:

1. Back4app – The first name that comes to mind as a substitute for Firebase is Back4app. It’s a simple-to-use BaaS platform that uses the Parse server. Support for both NoSQL and SQL databases, easy integration with GitHub, and support for REST and GraphQL APIs make it popular among users. However, it offers limited functionality compared to custom backend solutions.

2. Supabase – This BaaS platform entered the programming world with a lot of hype as an open-source alternative to Firebase. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a Firebase alternative that works with PostgreSQL. Real-time queries, user authentication, and a free tier are all pros of using Supabase. However, its manual configuration can be challenging for novice developers.

3. Backendless – Although Backendless is less popular as a Firebase alternative, it’s beginner-friendly and well-suited for startups. This platform offers visual database management and also functions as a no-code backend solution with a real-time database and more. Its drawbacks include potential price increases and difficult migrations.

4. AWS Amplify – If you want to go with a major provider like Google, you should consider AWS Amplify. This Amazon-backed service is ideal for hosting, building, and deploying both the frontend and backend of your applications. However, it requires your credit card details even before you start using its free plan.
