My daughter joined a junior sailing club this year, and I was surprised by how expensive lessons, safety gear, and boat maintenance can get. A local company helped the club buy new life jackets, which really encouraged the younger sailors. I'm looking for more examples to share with the club. Our club faced the same squeeze when my son started sailing at eight. His coach counted six torn buoyancy vests, two dead radios, and a trailer tire with exposed cord before the season began. A marina owner covered the vests, while three parents split the radio repair bill. The younger crews returned to the water.
