Armada Online is mixing strategy elements with the rpg evolving character. currently you can play on pvp battlegrounds 8vs8 and try to destroy the enemy's starbase. you fly your ship, that you can upgrade it with diffenrent items, which can be combined to even better ones. After the battle is over you get your Exp and lose the upgrades again.
Rumors tell, that closed beta will be announced soon and open alpha players will get access to it as well.
For now, i can say it is worth a try.
