The best way to learn German is to find a good teacher. If you are a complete beginner, don't start learning the language with a native speaker. On the very first stage, you need someone who could explain the basics of the German grammar and vocabulary to you in your mother language. Your teacher will recommend you which book to choose and which CDs to listen to. I know a couple of good German tutors on https://www.duolingo.com and on https://eurekly.com. Hope it'll help you.

get a German as a foreign language ("Deutsch als Fremdsprache", DaF) book, which is monolingual
use a good dictionary, which states grammatical gender ("Genus")
and Google translations are not a good choice
consider pons.eu - The free dictionary for foreign languages, German spelling and full-text translations
duden.de (German reference when it comes to spelling and such)
Always think about one thing (but tell no one, I said so): vocabulary over grammar. There is no use in being a grammar ace if you lack the vocabulary to communicate what you want to say
Surround yourself with German, write sticky notes like this: "der Kühlschrank" and stick it on your fridge,
read articles appropriate for your level (e.g. A1, A2...) and articles that are not appropriate! ;)
use online ressources like Practise German free of charge
watch movies
find a tandem partner in real life or online
